Molly Hurwitz, the former fiancée of Matthew Perry, was spotted for the first time since the actor's passing. On Sunday, October 29, the 32-year-old Hurwitz could be seen enjoying some downtime with friends at a park in Los Angeles. Despite her split from Perry earlier this year, the literary manager looked relaxed in a flannel shirt, baseball cap, sunglasses, and leggings as she took her dog for a walk.
The outing took place the day following Perry's unexpected passing on Saturday, October 28. The 56-year-old Friends star was discovered lifeless at his residence in Los Angeles, with indications pointing to a drowning incident. Upon receiving a distress call reporting a cardiac arrest, the police immediately responded to the scene, as reported by TMZ.
On Monday, October 30, the official cause of Perry's death was put on hold temporarily following an initial autopsy. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner stated that the results were inconclusive due to the pending toxicology report. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Perry's death is currently ongoing.
Perry has openly discussed his battle with addiction over the years. About a year ago, he expressed his desire to be remembered for his efforts to assist others facing the same struggles. As part of this commitment, he transformed a Malibu house into a sober living facility called the Perry House, specifically catering to men.
In a podcast episode of "Q with Tom Power" in November 2022, Perry emphasized that his greatest quality is being able to help alcoholics or drug addicts who seek assistance. He clarified that when he eventually passes away, he wishes for his philanthropic work to be the first thing mentioned about him, rather than his involvement in the television show Friends. He remains committed to proving this throughout the remainder of his life.
Perry's relationship with Hurwitz was his final publicly known romance before his passing. They began dating in 2018, and after two years, Perry got down on one knee and proposed. In November 2020, Perry shared with People his deep affection for Hurwitz, expressing how fortunate he felt to be engaged to such an incredible woman.
Seven months later, they made the announcement that they had chosen to end their relationship. Perry's representative conveyed, "Sometimes, things simply do not work out, and this is one such instance. I genuinely wish Molly all the best." In a November 2022 episode of Andy Cohen Live, Perry discussed his dating experiences, over a year after their separation.
“I could not be more single,” he told Andy Cohen. Perry added that after experimenting with dating apps, he is “off [of them] forever.”
