Mohamed Salah ends goal drought and marks his 200th Liverpool goal with a stunning comeback win against Crystal Palace

Mohamed Salah broke his goal drought in spectacular fashion on Saturday, scoring his 200th goal for Liverpool and his 150th in the Premier League to lead his team to a 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

At 31 years old, he has become only the fifth player in the club's history to score 200 goals or more, joining an exclusive group that includes Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson, and Billy Liddell.

"After the 2-1 win, Salah expressed his satisfaction to TNT Sports, saying, "The most important thing is that we've won the game. When we win and I score goals, it's a great feeling. I'm happy with the record and happy for the team."

Liverpool found themselves trailing after Jean-Philippe Mateta converted a penalty in the 57th minute, following a foul by Jarell Quansah as he attempted to clear the ball. This marked the ninth occasion this season that Liverpool had fallen behind in a match. Despite this, no team in the Premier League has managed to secure more than Liverpool's 18 points from a losing position.

Palace, a team in the lower half of the league, had to play with 10 men after Jordan Ayew was given two yellow cards and sent off. Liverpool took advantage of the situation, with Salah scoring shortly after, and substitute Harvey Elliott securing the win in added time with a stunning goal from the edge of the box.

The victory propels Liverpool to the top of the standings, although the Reds' reign at the summit could be short-lived if Arsenal defeats Aston Villa in the last Premier League match of the day.

Liverpool had control of the ball, but Jurgen Klopp's team was not very convincing until Salah ignited a comeback. Neither team posed much of a threat until Palace scored the first goal, which may be why the television cameras frequently showed Hollywood star Hugh Jackman watching the match from the stands in the first half.

Salah will certainly grab the spotlight, but credit for the win should also be given to Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson. In the first half, with the match tied, he made an incredible save against Jefferson Lerma. Then, in the final minutes of the game, he showed why he is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world by stopping Joachim Andersen from scoring the tying goal.
