Highlights

The armadillo has been announced as the winner of Mob Vote 2023 in Minecraft Live, with over 40% of the 5 million votes.

The crab and penguin were ranked second and third, offering players the opportunity to interact with blocks remotely and receive a speed boost while riding boats respectively. Despite the controversy surrounding the Mob Vote, it remains a highly anticipated event within the Minecraft community and is unlikely to be discontinued by the company.

Minecraft has declared the armadillo as the victor of the Mob Vote 2023. This recent edition of Minecraft Live, the highly anticipated event that brings players together to discover the latest updates in Minecraft, also featured the Mob Vote. During this vote, players had the opportunity to choose a new mob, and the winner would later be added to the game. The inaugural Mob Vote winner was the Llama, a peaceful mob that is perfect for players in need of a means to transport items since it can be equipped with a chest. The previous year's Mob Vote winner was the Sniffer, an ancient passive mob that has the ability to sniff out seeds from various decorative plants. With the conclusion of another Minecraft Live event, a new mob has been selected for Minecraft.

The armadillo emerged victorious in the Mob Vote 2023, announced by Minecraft. This year's vote garnered participation from five million Minecraft players, a notable increase of two million compared to the previous year. Among these votes, the armadillo secured 42.3%, making it the second choice for the 2023 Mob Vote. On the other hand, the crab received 32.5% of the players' votes, placing it in second position. This crab, found in Mangrove Swamps, possesses the capability to drop an item that allows Minecraft players to interact with blocks from a distance, as confirmed by Mojang. Meanwhile, the penguin took third place with a mere 25.2% of the votes. Situated in the Stony Shore biome, the penguin would grant a speed boost to players navigating with the mob on their boat.

While the crab and penguin naturally inhabit water-related biomes, the armadillo thrives in the savannah biome. Similar to its real-life counterpart, the armadillo curls up into a protective ball when startled by players. Upon defeating an armadillo, players can acquire a scute, which functions as a coveted collectible item that allows for the crafting of wolf armor, fulfilling a long-standing desire among Minecraft players. Currently, the availability of wolf armor in the game is limited to mods, making the introduction of the armadillo an eagerly anticipated addition. As of now, there is no specific release date for the armadillo in Minecraft.

The Mob Vote is a highly anticipated event within the Minecraft community. However, this year, the event has sparked controversy as certain players have launched a petition opposing it. Their argument is that the Mob Vote hinders the creation of fresh content for Minecraft. As of now, Mojang has not made any official statement regarding this petition. Considering the Mob Vote's status as a long-standing tradition in the Minecraft calendar, it is unlikely that the company will cancel the event. Minecraft is currently available on various platforms including Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and legacy platforms.
