Minecraft has released the second part of the villager trade rebalance, adding new maps and adjusting trades for Cartographers and Armorers.
Trading in Minecraft has revolutionized the worth of villagers as they now serve as prized assets for attaining exclusive items and discovering specific destinations.
With these adjustments, such as the option to trade diamond armor, the primary objective is to enhance the overall gameplay encounter for players at various points in their journey.
In the latest pre-release 1 of version 1.20.2, Minecraft has introduced the second part of the villager trade rebalance. While Minecraft has made various additions and removals to its mob lineup, villagers have remained a consistent presence since the game's inception. These non-player characters (NPCs) serve as companions for Minecraft players, but they have undergone numerous changes throughout the years.
Villagers were initially introduced as passive mobs during Minecraft's beta version. They initially displayed similar behavior to pigs and had five distinct professions. Known for their unintelligible chatter, social interactions with each other, and their penchant for opening and closing doors, villagers were simply friendly NPCs in the world of Minecraft. However, their usefulness and significance to gameplay underwent a drastic transformation with the introduction of trading in update 1.3.1. This update allowed players to engage in trades with villagers, utilizing emeralds as currency. Over time, villager trading has become an integral aspect of Minecraft, granting players easier access to rare and valuable items.
Furthermore, another notable change occurred with the release of the Village and Pillage update, which introduced the Wandering Trader.

Pre-release 1 of version 1.20.2 for Minecraft is now available, featuring rebalancing adjustments for two villager professions: Cartographers and Armorers. Cartographers have expanded their map selection, offering seven new maps showcasing various biomes, including Desert Village, Jungle Explorer, Plains Village, Savanna Village, Snow Village, Swamp Explorer, and Taiga Village. This update allows players to easily locate specific areas without relying on chance encounters.
In terms of Armorers, Mojang has introduced changes to the trading system. Diamond armor is now sold at a reasonable price, requiring diamonds and emeralds, which makes it less valuable for early-game players. However, those who have already obtained diamonds still benefit from this trading option. Additionally, Armorers offer shields, iron armor, and emeralds as valuable resources for players in the early stages. The sale of chain mail armor is exclusive to the Swamp and Secret Jungle Armorers, while the Savannah Armorer provides cursed diamond armor at lower prices. Lastly, the Taiga Armorer offers the option to exchange one piece of diamond armor for another.
The villager trades rebalance includes changes to Cartographers and Armorers, which is the second part of the rebalance. The first part was introduced in snapshot 23w31a, where Minecraft made significant adjustments to diamonds and altered the mechanics of Librarians and Wandering Traders. These changes are experimental and do not impact regular worlds. The rebalancing is still undergoing adjustments, allowing Minecraft players to test them and provide feedback on the Minecraft Feedback website. Minecraft can be played on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and legacy platforms.
