Rumors suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 could receive single-player DLC after its initial launch, potentially involving map updates and frequent expansions.
Fans have expressed their disappointment regarding the absence of single-player DLC for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, however, there is optimism surrounding GTA 6. Rockstar has the potential to alter its approach to post-launch support for GTA 6, drawing from the positive response towards Red Dead Online and the increasing desire for single-player content.
Speculation about the possibility of single-player DLC for Grand Theft Auto 6 has sparked excitement among fans. Despite limited information about the upcoming game, fans have been thoroughly analyzing rumors and leaks, eagerly anticipating its release date. In the past, Rockstar has embraced single-player DLC, with Grand Theft Auto 4 offering The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony expansion packs, which introduced captivating storylines and new playable characters. Moreover, the unforgettable Undead Nightmare expansion for Red Dead Redemption has been hailed as an iconic addition. While Rockstar initially planned to release single-player DLC for GTA 5, they redirected their focus towards Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online. Although both games continue to receive new content and expansions for their online modes, the lack of single-player DLC for devoted fans has been a disappointment.
These disappointed fans may have reason to rejoice, as recent remarks from renowned GTA insider and journalist, Tek2, indicate that Grand Theft Auto 6 might possibly receive single-player DLC. Tek2 mentioned that Rockstar is intending to release "episodic content, also known as [single-player] DLC," following the initial launch of GTA 6. Although the leaker didn't delve into specifics regarding the content of these episodes, it is likely that they will involve updates to the game's map and be released with similar frequency as the expansions to the online mode of the game.
Tez2's predictions for GTA 6 DLC include the possibility of entirely new cities to explore. Recently, Tez2 provided more insight into what this single-player DLC could resemble, comparing it to the cancelled expansions for GTA 5. While Rockstar's approach with GTA 5 might make the idea of frequent single-player DLC releases seem unlikely, the demand for such content for GTA 6 is not unrealistic. Tez2 speculates that Rockstar could distribute GTA 6's content through various DLCs, possibly leading to an earlier game release. Furthermore, the underwhelming success of Red Dead Online in comparison to GTA Online could influence Rockstar to change their post-launch support approach for GTA 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in development.
