PlayStation VR2 accidents can lead to serious damage, as one Reddit user shattered their TV screen after playing a game.
Although safety features can reduce accidents, it is important for users to exercise caution to prevent any damage to their surroundings. The user has decided to continue using their PS VR2 headset despite the broken screen and intends to purchase a new TV while seeking ways to avoid future accidents.
A Reddit user recently faced a harsh reality when they discovered that their television screen was shattered after removing their PlayStation VR2 headset. Adding insult to injury, this realization occurred shortly after completing a game, turning what should have been a celebratory moment into a painful one.
Although the PlayStation VR2 hardware includes numerous safety features aimed at preventing injuries or damage to the surroundings, accidents can still occur. Fortunately, most of these accidents are minor, such as players accidentally pulling out the tether cable or bumping into nearby furniture. However, there are instances where the resulting damage can be much more severe.
Redditor Bad_Friday shared their accident in the PSVR subreddit, showcasing a photo of the damage caused to their television screen. The caption accompanying the image explains that they had just finished playing Hubris, a highly immersive game on PS VR2, as indicated by the visible credits still on the broken display. The impact point is located just to the right of them and renders the television practically useless, except for split-screen gaming.
Numerous Redditors expressed their sympathies in the comments, while some questioned why the poster was standing so close to their TV in the first place. Others noted that Hubris is one of several PlayStation VR2 games that can be played while sitting down. However, Bad_Friday responded by stating that the experience is much less immersive in a seated position. Nonetheless, they later admitted that they should likely refrain from performing intense maneuvers like "barrel rolls" during future PS VR2 sessions.
For those who can recall, the sight of a shattered screen might bring back memories of the Nintendo Wii. The motion controls introduced by Nintendo's seventh-generation console, though innovative, proved to be perilous for countless television displays. Mirrors, vases, and other household objects also fell victim to the havoc caused during the system's prime.
As for Bad_Friday, they are already making plans to purchase a new television and actively devising strategies to avoid a repetition of their recent mishap. In the meantime, however, they can still enjoy their PS VR2, as the headset can be used even when the television connected to the PS5 is turned off. In fact, this approach not only helps conserve power but is also the preferred method of gameplay for many PlayStation VR2 users.
