Despite its low rating on Steam, Starfield's modding community, including the "Really Useful Starfield" mod, will persist in enhancing the game and providing an enhanced experience in the coming days.
If a Bethesda title wants to live up to its name, a Thomas the Tank Engine mod is a must-have. And now, Starfield has its very own peculiar version, where every ship in the game transforms into the notorious locomotive from The Railway Series. Since its release, the ship builder in Starfield has captivated players, who have painstakingly reproduced iconic designs from beloved sci-fi franchises like Star Trek, Star Wars, Mass Effect, and more. Alongside these renowned creations, Starfield players have also explored their imagination with original concepts, proudly sharing their completed ship builds all over social media.
Within this vast array of starship designs, a few unconventional and eccentric vessels have started to emerge – from gun-shaped gunships to sailing boats and locomotives in Starfield. While players attempted to recreate Thomas the Tank Engine using the game's basic ship parts, the project proved too ambitious to conquer without the assistance of mods.
However, Trainwiz's outstanding efforts in designing Skyrim's Thomas the Tank Engine mod have revolutionized the Starfield gaming experience. Players now have the unique opportunity to engage in epic space battles like never before. With this mod, every ship, including the player's ship, transforms into the iconic Thomas the Tank Engine. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Starfield's official modding tools will not be available until early 2024. Trainwiz accomplished this feat by meticulously replacing each reactor model in Starfield with Thomas. Consequently, players should be aware of some important considerations associated with this mod.
In Starfield, players are encouraged to design a ship that fits perfectly within the locomotive model. Any parts built outside of these parameters will stick out awkwardly. This solution, although crude, ensures that enemy vessels in Starfield will resemble Thomas the Tank Engine, similar to Trainwiz's Skyrim version where dragons were replaced. The mod that brings Thomas the Tank Engine into Starfield can be found on the Starfield Nexus along with other modded content that continues to expand.
While Starfield has achieved various player milestones, it currently holds the lowest rating among Bethesda titles on Steam. Although the game offers the addictive sandbox experience that Bethesda is known for, many players have expressed their disappointment with the disjointed feel of Starfield. This is because the game relies heavily on procedurally generated content instead of the handcrafted journey of discovery that defined Skyrim and its predecessors. However, the game's growing modding community, as showcased by the "Really Useful Starfield" mod featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, will continue to enhance Starfield and hopefully deliver a much-improved experience in the coming year.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
