As the X-Men are set to make their debut in the MCU in the near future, there is much anticipation regarding the casting choices. If the creators choose to feature Bishop more prominently in this reboot, rapper Method Man has expressed interest in portraying the character. However, he mentioned that he would be completely fine if someone else was cast for the role (if Bishop is included), or even if they decided to bring back the original actor who played Bishop nine years ago.
Method Man expressed his interest in portraying Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's rendition of the X-Men. He acknowledged the previous actor's commendable performance and praised the MCU's casting choices. Method Man believes that if given the opportunity, he would gladly take on the role and notes that he has already done the necessary research.
In the original X-Men film franchise, Bishop appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past. In this movie, he was one of the few surviving mutants who had not been captured or killed by the Sentinels in a dystopian future. Bishop's ability allowed him to absorb and redirect various forms of energy. Though his role in the film was relatively minor, as the focus was on preventing a disastrous past to secure a better future. Bishop valiantly sacrificed himself alongside the other mutants to stop the Sentinels.
There is uncertainty regarding Bishop's inclusion in the upcoming X-Men reboot, as he is not typically associated with the Marvel superhero team. This is similar to how Gambit, a beloved character, only appeared once in the previous movie franchise, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, if Bishop is chosen for the reboot, Method Man would be a strong candidate due to his acting experience and previous appearances in superhero media like Luke Cage. It wouldn't be surprising to have him take on the role of Bishop.
Regardless of whether Method Man is cast, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) faces a significant challenge with the upcoming X-Men reboot. They must find a way to handle one of Marvel's major franchises while introducing fresh material. Although the quality of previous X-Men movies has been inconsistent, they tackled complex subjects that may be too deep for the MCU to explore. However, this could also be the boost the franchise needs to reignite the interest of its fans.
