Mind-Blowing Discovery: Starfield Planets Astonishingly True to Scale!

Fresh evidence supports the speculation that Starfield's planetary depictions will be meticulously scaled, debunking prior fan theories Prepare for a truly immersive experience in this highly anticipated game

One meticulous fan of Starfield recently uncovered evidence indicating that Bethesda's upcoming RPG will accurately depict the scale of planets, contrary to previous fan theories. They promptly shared their discovery online, coinciding with the release of a leaked image that further confirmed the inclusion of a recognizable weapon in Starfield.

While a significant portion of Starfield's planets will be procedurally generated, not all of the celestial bodies that players can explore will be entirely fictional. Bethesda has already confirmed the existence of several dozen locations in the game that are inspired by real astronomical objects, including Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, and Pluto, as well as various known moons and asteroids found beyond our Solar System.

One issue that arose among some players after the June 11 Starfield Direct was that the portrayal of real planets in the game seemed too large when viewed from nearby moons or celestial objects. However, a Reddit user named nimbulan conducted research and found evidence suggesting that Bethesda did not exaggerate the scale of these planets. They used NASA's Solar System Simulator to estimate the size of Jupiter when viewed from Io, one of its moons that will be featured in Starfield. Although the simulation used a slightly different viewing angle than the previous Jupiter images seen in Starfield, the calculated size of the planet closely matched the in-game footage captured on Io. Consequently, the experiment's author concluded that the scaling of Starfield's planets will not be unrealistic when viewed from a distance.

The actually explorable maps inspired by celestial objects will likely be much smaller compared to their real-life counterparts since Bethesda never claimed that Starfield would feature a vast universe with hundreds of realistically sized planets. However, when it comes to the perceived size of these celestial bodies, it appears that the developer will occasionally prioritize realism. While it remains to be seen how often this will be the case, Starfield's planets already exhibit incredible diversity, indicating its potential to offer captivating and varied worlds to explore, regardless of their size.

Setting realism aside, the highly ambitious scope of Bethesda's space-faring RPG also raises concerns within the fandom. This concern was recently highlighted by an influx of online complaints from gamers who are dissatisfied with Starfield's promise of over 1000 planets.

Starfield launches September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
