Summary

Some Doctor Who fans noticed that UNIT's new building in the 60th-anniversary trailer resembles the Avengers Tower from the MCU.

Some Doctor Who fans have noticed that the new building for UNIT, the show's Earth-defending taskforce, bears a striking resemblance to the Avengers Tower from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the upcoming David Tennant-led anniversary specials, Kate Lethbridge Stewart, played by Jemma Redgrave, will continue to protect the world from various monsters. UNIT made their debut in the 1968 adventure "The Invasion," defending London against the Cybermen, and have since appeared in both the classic and modern versions of the show, facing enemies such as Sontarans, Zygons, Daleks, and Autons. While the 60th-anniversary trailer primarily focuses on the return of familiar adversaries and the reunion of old friends, some viewers have taken notice of this new London landmark. UNIT's New Tower Isn't The Doctor Who Mainstays Only Similarity To Marvel

Mind-Blowing Connection Revealed: Doctor Who's UNIT Building Holds a Jaw-Dropping Secret!

In the aftermath of the destruction of the previous bases depicted in "The Power of the Doctor" in 2022, UNIT has not only established a new headquarters but also bears resemblance to the MCU. Much like SHIELD, UNIT is an organization dedicated to safeguarding the Earth. Its operatives don black uniforms and engage in scientific research, while the Doctor fills the role of a scientific advisor. Additionally, UNIT had its own Helicarrier-like vehicle, called The Valiant, until it was downed by Daleks in "The Stolen Earth."

Content must be written in English:

UNIT shares similarities with SHIELD not only in its less-than-honorable actions, but also in its possession of a secret collection of alien artifacts that would not meet the Doctor's approval. UNIT is willing to do whatever it takes to complete its missions, even if it means resorting to questionable methods. In Doctor Who: Flux's UNIT origin storyline, it is revealed that from its early days, UNIT was infiltrated by a corrupt alien politician known as The Grand Serpent (portrayed by Craig Robinson). The Grand Serpent's objective was to subjugate Earth, a plan reminiscent of the revelation that HYDRA had been controlling SHIELD all along.

Although the recent connections between Doctor Who and Disney may make UNIT's base, which bears resemblance to Avengers Tower, seem amusing in hindsight, it is most likely a mere coincidence in the design choices. However, there have been indications that UNIT will have a greater presence in the future. With its restoration after the Thirteenth Doctor's era and the announcement of classic companion Mel's (played by Bonnie Langford) return in season 12, which features the organization's landing pad in the background, it is possible that UNIT will play a more significant role in upcoming seasons. Therefore, fans can expect to see more of UNIT and their familiar-looking building in the years to come.
