Mickey Guyton opened up about a scary moment involving her son Grayson's health.

She shared that in 2021, right after performing at the CMAs with Brittney Spencer and Madeline Edwards, her son fell ill with a severe stomach bug. Despite not knowing the seriousness of the situation at first, Grayson became severely dehydrated. After three trips to the emergency room, he was diagnosed with sepsis.

Guyton recalled reaching out to her friend, Dr. Nathan Ford, a Black doctor, as she noticed her son's eyes becoming sunken and him losing consciousness. The experience was a frightening ordeal for the singer and her family.

My friend managed to get us a bed at Santa Monica Reagan Hospital during the peak of COVID. We were staying in downtown Los Angeles at that time. It was a miracle that we made it from downtown LA to Santa Monica in just 20 minutes, thanks to God's grace.

When we reached the hospital, Grayson, who is now 3 years old, was not awake. He was quickly taken to the back for treatment.

Guyton recalled the overwhelming moment when medical staff surrounded the patient, checking his vitals. Due to his severe dehydration, they struggled to draw blood, prompting Guyton and others to step out of the room. Feeling the gravity of the situation, Guyton asked the nurse if the patient's condition was critical. The doctor's response was blunt: "I'm really concerned. He's the sickest person in this ER right now."

Mickey Guyton shared a moment from her past experience. She remembered falling to her knees and praying. She held a woman's hand on a stretcher and prayed together for the safety of the woman's baby. Guyton described it as one of the scariest moments in her life.

The experience taught a valuable lesson. "As a mother, going through something like that made me understand why our mothers were so protective and concerned," she shared. "I used to wonder why my mom was so overprotective, and now I realize it. In that moment, I would have done anything to save my son's life. I would have swapped places with him without a second thought."

Guyton is married to Grant Savoy, and together they have a son named Grayson. She had previously shared updates about Grayson's health and hospitalization on social media in the fall of 2021.

"He felt the power of every prayer sent his way as he made his way to the ICU. Thankfully, the prayers worked, and he was stabilized and released from the ICU in just a few hours," she shared in a tweet, updating fans on her then-9-month-old son's progress. "He's improving every minute, but it will take some time."

Looking back on the experience, Guyton drew inspiration for her latest single, "Scary Love," which she discussed during a recent talk show appearance. "The song is really about the unconditional love between a mother and her child," she explained. "That's what it's all about."
