Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Enhanced with 4K Support by Modding Community

Metal Gear fans were left bewildered by conflicting statements from Konami regarding the resolution of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 in the Master Collection on PC. Disappointingly, it was revealed that these versions would only display at 720p on higher resolution screens. However, there is a glimmer of hope as PC Gamer reports that a modder named Sergeanur quickly addressed this issue within hours of the collection's release.
Sergeanur developed a solution called the MGSResolutionPatch, which is a compact 64.5 kilobyte file. This patch was promptly made available on GitHub for download. While specifically recommended for resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1440, and 3840x2160, Sergeanur also suggests that other resolutions may work well with the tool. Hence, it is worthwhile to experiment with different combinations to find the best fit.
The mod works with the emulated versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 in the Master Collection. However, increasing the resolution in MGS2 may cause UI bugs, which may be fixed by modders in the future. To install the mod, you need to download Ultimate ASI Loader from GitHub and follow the step-by-step process explained on the mod page. After installation, players can set their preferred resolution by editing a text file.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection has received generally positive reviews from critics, including Our Website. Reviewer Richard Wakeling gave the game a score of 8/10 and stated that the collection presents a comprehensive package that showcases some of the most influential video games of all time, offering a rich history of stealth-action. The collection has achieved an aggregate score of 78 on Metacritic.
