Meryl Streep transformed the 2023 Academy Museum Gala into a family event, as she was joined by her estranged husband Don Gummer's four children - Henry Wolfe, Mamie, Grace, and Louisa Jacobson - for red carpet photos. Also in attendance were Henry's wife Tamryn Storm Hawker and Grace's husband Mark Ronson. The star-studded gathering took place in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 3.
The family wore matching all-black outfits, with Streep and Grace both in long-sleeved dresses, Mamie and Jacobson in sleeveless ball gowns, and Wolfe and Ronson in classic black tuxes. Hawker stood out in a nude mini dress with a long sheer overlay, embroidered with silver floral designs. Streep was honored at the event, receiving the Academy Museum Gala Icon Award from her colleague Greta Gerwig, in recognition of her decades-long impact on the entertainment industry.
Don, 76, was conspicuously absent from the family's evening out in the wake of the news about his split from Streep. A representative for Streep confirmed the separation, stating that Don Gummer and Meryl Streep had been apart for over 6 years, but continue to care for each other. Their most recent public appearance was five years ago at the 2018 Academy Awards, where Streep was nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Post. (Frances McDormand won the award for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.)

Streep and Don tied the knot in 1978, a mere six months after being set up by her brother. Their first child, Henry, arrived a year later, followed by Mamie in 1983, Grace in 1986, and Louisa in 1991.
The couple also have four grandchildren in common. The daughter and son of Wolfe and Hawker, and a son that Mamie shares with her husband, Mehar Sethi. Grace and Ronson had their first child in March.
Before their separation, Streep expressed gratitude to Don in her best actress acceptance speech at the 2012 Oscars. She thanked him for being her support system and acknowledged that he had given her everything she valued most in their lives.

In a June 2019 interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, she also expressed appreciation for her partner's deep involvement in raising their four children, humorously acknowledging her own "tiger mom" style compared to his more laid-back approach. Reflecting on a past experience, she remembered a time when their son Henry lost interest in piano lessons due to a subpar teacher. While she insisted on him continuing, her husband saw it differently, believing it to be her own dream rather than his. She proudly highlighted that their son, now 37, has become a successful musician, proving the validity of her "tiger mom" perspective.
