“He discovered a workshop below the location where the Willy Wonka experience took place. The day after the incident, while he was near the bins, he noticed various items scattered around,” Kasparis shared with CNN on Wednesday.

“At first, he thought it would be fun to take some of the items as a joke with his friends. However, he later decided that something positive should come out of it. We recommended that Monorail auction off the items for a charity benefitting Medical Aid for Palestinians,” Kasparis explained.

Despite starting at just £10 ($13), the three backdrops on Ebay have attracted 48 bids already, with the highest bid reaching £760 ($973) by Wednesday morning. The bidding will close on Thursday at 3:10 p.m. local time (11:10 a.m. ET).

Box Hub, the venue that hosted the viral event, recently sold a handcrafted sign that announced the cancellation of the event. The sign was sold for £840 ($1,075) and 80% of the proceeds were donated to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Box Hub acknowledged the disappointment experienced by many children and families who traveled from different parts of the country for the event in a post on Instagram on March 1. Despite the comedic aspect, they expressed a desire to bring some positivity out of the situation.

The Willy Wonka-themed event, featuring quarter cups of lemonade for each child, simple decorations, and actors portraying Oompa Loompas, became a popular subject for memes on social media. The event even made its way into British politics when the opposition Labour Party joined in on the fun.

Two backdrops sold by the record store show a vibrant candyland scene, while another one in black and white was used for a "Time Tunnel." However, they did not match the fantastical images used in the event advertisements.

Families who attended the experience were disappointed with the mismatch between what was promised and what was delivered. Their frustration escalated to the point where the police had to be called, leading to the eventual cancellation of the event.

House of Illuminati, the organizer, expressed in its recent Facebook update that they are deeply saddened by the aftermath of the event. They mentioned that they are still in the process of refunding tickets and have previously apologized multiple times.
