The Mando Kobayashi Manga Award was established in 2013 during the Mando Kobayashi variety show, where Kendo Kobayashi acts as the host. Each year, Kobayashi personally selects the award based on his own readings, opinions, and preferences, highlighting his admiration for Me & Roboco’s publications throughout the year as a reflection of his own bias.

The upcoming broadcast on Saturday, January 27, will provide a deep dive into the hidden history of the manga's creation and the intricate process behind crafting each chapter.

The broadcast will also feature the presentation of several other awards, such as the "Finally Completed," "Best Supporting Actor," and "Most Expected New Series" awards. Similar to the Mando Kobayashi Manga Award, it is expected that Kobayashi himself will select the winners for these awards rather than a committee.

Previous recipients of the Mando Kobayashi Manga Award include Gege Akutami's original Jujutsu Kaisen manga series, which won in 2020, Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga series, which won in 2015, and Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland, which won in 2017.

Kendo Kobayashi, a Japanese comedian and actor, started his career in 1992. Although not widely recognized for his awards, he is known by various names such as Tomoharu Kobayashi, Ken Koba, Koba, and Mr. Yaritai Hodai. He is affiliated with the Yoshimoto Creative Agency of Yoshimoto Kogyo in Tokyo.

Miyazaki's Me & Roboco manga series debuted in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2020 and continues to be regularly serialized. The television anime adaptation, produced by Gallop Studios, aired from December 2022 to June 2023. An anime film adaptation has been announced, but there is no information on the production or release of a second season. Stay tuned for more updates on anime, manga, film, and live-action news throughout 2024.
