Matthew Perry's Love Life: From Julia Roberts to Neve Campbell and Beyond

Matthew Perry was quite acquainted with being involved in high-profile romances. Despite eventually dating numerous famous celebrities, Perry openly discussed the challenges of sustaining a relationship while being in the limelight after the immense success of his NBC sitcom. In the show, which ran from 1994 to 2004, he portrayed the character Chandler Bing.

During Perry's time on the show, his friends played a role in introducing him to significant romantic partners. One such instance was in 1995 when he started dating Julia Roberts, who had made a guest appearance on the comedy series and sparked an immediate connection.

Unfortunately, their relationship didn't last long, and they decided to end things after only two months. Perry acknowledged that his own insecurities contributed to the breakup. Afterward, he had a series of brief flings before ultimately finding love again in 2006 with Lizzy Caplan. Their relationship lasted for six years before it was confirmed that they had separated in October 2013.

Perry was rumored to have started a romantic relationship with Molly Hurwitz five years later. It was exclusively revealed by Us in January 2020 that the couple was dating. In November of the same year, Perry confirmed his proposal to the talent manager.

Unfortunately, six months after their engagement, the couple decided to end their relationship.

In October 2023, Perry died at age 54 following an apparent drowning.

During his time on Friends, Perry did find love with a few notable individuals, including Julia Roberts, whom he started dating in 1995 after she made a guest appearance on the show.

Despite their immediate connection, the couple ended their relationship after only two months of dating, with Perry attributing the breakup to his own insecurities. After their separation, Perry engaged in a series of short-term relationships before ultimately finding love again with Lizzy Caplan in 2006. They were together for six years before their split was confirmed by We in October 2013.

Five years later, rumors began to circulate that Perry had entered into a romantic relationship with Molly Hurwitz. Exclusively reported by Us in January 2020, it was revealed that the two were indeed dating. In November of that same year, Perry publicly announced that he had proposed to Hurwitz, who works as a talent manager.

Six months after the actor got down on one knee, however, the twosome called it quits.

In October 2023, Perry died at age 54 following an apparent drowning.

Julia Roberts

During the period of 1995 to 1996, Julia Roberts, known for her role in Go On, and the star of Ticket to Paradise, had a romantic relationship. This connection was forged when Roberts was requested to make an appearance on Friends for the episode after the Super Bowl. According to Perry's memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Roberts insisted on being a part of his storyline for her participation on the show.

While Perry attempted to win her over with roses and an essay on quantum mechanics, Roberts, a Georgia native, eventually made a guest appearance on the comedy show. The couple then embarked on a two-month relationship until Perry decided to end it due to his "own insecurities."

Yasmine Bleeth

Following Chandler Bing's admission of having a crush on the Baywatch star in an episode of Friends, Perry and Bleeth embarked on a romantic relationship in late 1996. Despite its brief duration, Perry's character continued to allude to Bleeth with affectionate references on the comedy series over the years.

"That's Yasmine Bleeth," Chandler remarks to his pet chick, acknowledging her as a unique and extraordinary individual. Despite this distinction, Chandler affectionately declares his love for both Yasmine Bleeth and his feathered friend, emphasizing the contrasting nature of his feelings for each. They watch the beloved actress on television during an episode from season 3.

Neve Campbell

Sparks ignited between the duo while shooting their film, Three to Tango, in 1998, fueling rumors of a budding romance. However, their love affair had fizzled out by the time the romantic comedy hit the screens in June of the subsequent year.

The Numb star and a native of Canada were in a relationship for four years before getting engaged in November 2020. In an interview with People, he expressed his excitement about the engagement, describing his partner as the most amazing woman in the world.

Six months later, Perry and Molly ended their relationship for good in June 2021. Perry's representative stated, "Sometimes things simply don't work out, and this is one of those instances. I extend my best wishes to Molly."
