Hollywood mourns the loss of Matthew Perry as his former costar, Ione Skye, shares their last text exchange as a tribute. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, October 29, Skye, 53, posted screenshots of their final conversation.
The actress, who acted alongside Perry in his first movie, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon in 1988, expressed her deep sadness over their last interaction a week ago. In her post, she mentioned how much she loved him.
Screenshots shared by Skye reveal that Perry reached out to her on October 15 with a warm message to see how she was doing and catch up. The former Friends star wrote, "Hi! I hope everything is going well. I've recently started meditating, and while I was in that state, 'In Your Eyes' started playing, and it instantly reminded me of you and your beauty."
Perry expressed his hopes for Skye's well-being, stating that he wished she was "healthy and happy." In response, Skye affirmed that she was indeed both, albeit with a touch of uncertainty. She expressed her pleasure at hearing from him, emphasizing that all her memories with him were pleasant.
Continuing their conversation, Perry reminisced about a particular afternoon when he found himself in his apartment and unexpectedly encountered Skye.
Several fans and celebrities expressed their sympathies to Skye in the comments section of the post. Patricia Arquette wrote, "I'm so sorry honey," while Questlove commented, "Oh man ..."

Skye and Perry played the characters Denise Hunter and Fred Roberts in the movie A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. The comedy revolves around River Phoenix's character, who is known as a womanizer, as he tries to run away with his true love to avoid going to business school.
After Perry's death on October 28, many celebrities, including Skye, expressed their heartfelt tributes. Perry was discovered dead in a hot tub after the police received a report of someone experiencing cardiac arrest. The initial autopsy results could not determine the cause of death and are awaiting a toxicology report.

The world will deeply mourn the absence of Matthew Perry," actress Maggie Wheeler, famous for playing Janice, one of Chandler's (Perry) romantic interests on Friends, expressed on Instagram along with a snapshot of them from the sitcom on Sunday. "The happiness you spread throughout your brief life will remain as a cherished memory. I feel incredibly grateful for every shared moment of creativity we had."

In addition to being honored on Saturday Night Live and at an NHL game, Adele took a moment to pay tribute to Perry during her Las Vegas residency show on Saturday. According to social media footage, she shared a cherished memory from her youth when her friend Andrew would impersonate Chandler from Friends to make them laugh. She expressed that this character and the joy it brought will forever remain in her heart.
Gwyneth Paltrow also reminisced about her past connection with Perry, sharing on Instagram that they had a "magical" summer fling in 1993. Paltrow mentioned that at the time, Perry had filmed the pilot of Friends but it had not yet aired. She expressed her sadness over Perry's passing and hoped that he has finally found peace.
In a statement to People on Sunday, Perry's family, including his dad John Bennett Perry, mom Suzanne Morrison, and stepdad Keith Morrison, expressed their deep sorrow over the tragic loss of their beloved son and brother. They commended Matthew for the happiness he brought to the world, both through his acting and his friendships. The family also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they have received.
