How to Skip TimeHow Time Works
In Starfield, players can encounter numerous characters and explore countless planets. Familiarizing themselves with the concept of time is essential for successful space travel, as they may come across planets where an hour passes in several Earth days due to relativity.
Although a complex topic, gamers might benefit from understanding the mechanics of time in order to effectively navigate the intriguing worlds of Starfield. This guide not only illustrates the passage of time in the vastness of space but also provides insights on how players can manipulate time during their travels.
How to Skip Time
In Starfield, players have the ability to skip time, a common feature in games that allows for easier resource farming or waiting for missions to become available. It is possible to skip the time of day at any moment in the game as long as players have access to a comfortable spot like a bed, chair, bench, or couch. To activate this feature, players can choose to sit on a seat or sleep on a bed and then select the "Wait" option. They can then decide how long they want to rest, and this will determine the amount of time that will be skipped.
Gamers have the ability to switch between one hour and 24 hours in accordance with their Local Time. While this option might not always be accessible, opting to sleep is consistently the better choice as it will completely restore the player's health if they had previously lost any. Furthermore, by choosing to sleep, they will also receive the advantageous Well Rested boost, which enhances their XP by ten percent for a duration of 24 minutes, even if they decide to sleep for only an hour.
How Time Works
The concept of time in Starfield is relative, and it holds significant importance. While players can opt to skip ahead anywhere from one to 24 local hours, it should be noted that Local Time may not always align with Universal Time (UT).
On Jemison, three hours is equivalent to six hours and 15 minutes UT. On the Earth's moon, three hours equals 82 hours and 40 minutes UT. However, on Earth, three hours is the same as three hours UT, but the Local Time varies based on the chosen landing location due to timezone differences.
In space, Local Time and passing time always align with Universal Time. Additionally, Universal Time remains constant regardless of the player's position.
Starfield is now available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
