Final Fantasy 16 introduces the Limit Break feature, a familiar mechanic in the franchise, which transforms Clive into an unstoppable force. Utilizing the Limit Break not only expedites battles but also recharges at a rapid pace, encouraging players to incorporate this ability frequently. However, understanding how to activate and maximize the potential of the Limit Break is crucial, as there are pivotal moments where its usage proves exceptionally effective.
Since its inception in Final Fantasy 7, Limit Breaks have remained a staple in the series, with roots traced back to Final Fantasy 6. This enduring tradition empowers Final Fantasy characters to momentarily surpass their limitations, unleashing devastating attacks or acquiring new forms to aid them in combat. Consequently, the inclusion of this feature in Final Fantasy 16 comes as no surprise, yet remains an exhilarating addition.
Filling the Limit Break Gauge and Activating Limit Break
In order for Clive to activate his Limit Break, he must first accumulate energy in his Limit Break Gauge. This gauge is represented by a yellow bar located underneath Clive's HP bar, and it gradually fills up as he inflicts and receives damage during battles. Utilizing certain abilities, such as the Eikonik Feat Titanic Block, can expedite the gauge filling process, but even without these enhancements, it doesn't take too long. Once at least one gauge is completely filled, players can initiate their Limit Break state by simultaneously pressing L3 and R3 (pressing in both sticks) on the DualSense controller.
What Does Limit Break Do?
In Final Fantasy 16, Clive's Limit Break form is referred to as "Semi-Prime." When activated, both Clive and his sword ignite in flames, accompanied by the emergence of demonic-looking features. This transformation not only enhances Clive's combat abilities but also adds a visually striking element to the photo mode in Final Fantasy 16. The player's attack combos are significantly improved and extended, resulting in much higher damage output. Although the effect is temporary, if the Limit Break Gauge has more than one full bar, its duration can be extended. To end the effect prematurely, players can press L3 and R3, but doing so does not preserve any unused Limit Break Gauge.
Final Fantasy 16 is set to release on June 21 for the PS5.
