Fort Condor has returned in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, offering a series of activities rather than just a one-time event. These activities can be accessed as early as Chapter 4: Dawn of a New Era. It is important to participate in these minigames in order to fulfill the Protorelic objectives in the Junon region.
How to Unlock Junon Protorelic Challenge

Fort Condor minigame basics
Fort Condor is akin to a MOBA or tower defense game:
In the game, you and your opponent each have headquarters. The goal is to destroy your opponent's HQ first in order to win the match.
Troops will approach the headquarters via two lanes, the left and right. You can see which enemies will spawn next by looking at the meter on the right-hand side of the screen.
Your ATB gauge, located in the upper-left corner, shows you when you can deploy your units. Your troops will move and attack enemies on their own.
Different units have different strengths and weaknesses. Vanguard units (red) are strong in close combat and can easily take down ranged units, following a rock-paper-scissors concept.
Ranged units (green) can hit opponents from afar, and they can bring down defense units.
Defense units (blue) can take a lot of punishment, and they're great against vanguard units.
Once you have produced enough units of a specific type, such as Cloud (defense), Barret (ranged), and Tifa (vanguard), you can call upon heroes to join the fight. These heroes possess area-of-effect abilities that can greatly impact the outcome of battles.
Additionally, there are support units available that specialize in healing, along with forward artillery units that you can strategically position on the battlefield.
As your units move forward, you can deploy troops nearer to the enemy's base. But be careful, if enemy units progress towards you unchecked, the area where you can spawn troops will shrink.
Punch through a lane so you can destroy your opponent's structures.

The best setup to win Fort Condor matches
For our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fort Condor matches, we chose the following setup:
Option #4: Entrench - Stronghold Defense Focus
Hero units: Cloud and Barret
There are a few reasons why. Firstly, the combination of Elite Enforcer/Enforcer with 3x Cleric is extremely strong because of their durability and healing abilities. We concentrated most of our units on the right side, keeping an eye out for enemies approaching from the left. As we push forward, we can also bring in Elite Rangers, Ballistae, and Trebuchets to attack from a distance.
We usually relied on defense units first, then ranged units, and occasionally called upon Cloud and Barret. We would summon them when enemies clustered near our troops because of the area-of-effect damage they inflict.
Having a more defensive-oriented approach, while also using Cloud and Barret, helped us win many matches.
