Mastering Deathloop: Unlock the Postmodern Abstractionism Trophy / Achievement with Our Comprehensive Guide

Unlock the Postmodern Abstractionism trophy in Deathloop's DLC by skillfully eliminating adversaries using a paint bomb Discover the ultimate guide to achieving this unique and artistic accolade

The Goldenloop update, released in 2022, brought a plethora of fresh content to Deathloop. It introduced new adversaries and formidable enhancements, as well as an extended ending that both new and returning players could enjoy at no cost. For completionists seeking trophies and achievements, the update offered four additional challenges to exhibit the new content. To achieve 100% completion, players must think unconventionally and confront demanding obstacles.

Among these challenges is the task of battling the paint-bombers, one of Deathloop's most formidable adversaries, and utilizing their unique weapons to defeat another enemy. Completing this feat will unlock the Postmodern Abstractionism trophy and expose players to a creative tool they can wield against their foes.

How To Unlock the Postmodern Abstractionism trophy

Paint-bombers are anything but discreet. Their vibrant hues, booming music, and habit of shouting as they charge towards players with explosives are unmistakable. To acquire one of these foes' paint bombs, players must execute a kill without being detected. If a paint-bomber spots you and gets too near, it will result in an explosion, rendering the paint bombs useless.

Suggested Loadout:

Double jump trinket

Aether slab with Ghost and Flicker upgrades

Havoc slab

Any rifle or precise weapon

The best place to attempt this trophy is at Fristad Rock at noon. In the morning, this location is occupied by the visionary Frank Spicer, but players won't have to deal with him while attempting this trophy, as there are no paint bombers in the area at that time. Instead, players should visit the area at noon when Fia Zborowska is present. This will provide the perfect opportunity for chaos (and earning trophies).

Begin by ascending the stairs to the tunnel exit. There may be some enemies to eliminate here, but they can easily be avoided by moving onto the cliffs to the right. Look down into the courtyard, where a paint bomber should be noticeable, dancing in front of some blast doors near the damaged vehicles. They can be taken out from a distance with a sniper rifle or stealthily killed using a machete. However, it's crucial that the player remains undetected. Assuming the assassination is successful, two to four paint bombs will be left behind.

These objects can be picked up and thrown, but they will only detonate upon being shot. The range of their explosion is quite limited, and there is a short delay before they explode. It is recommended to throw the paint bomb into a group of enemies, shoot it, and utilize the Havoc slab to absorb any damage while the bomb detonates. It is advisable to disable auto-aim, as it may prioritize enemies instead.

As with most games in the Immersive Sim genre, there are other strategies that players can employ. Locations such as Karl's Bay, where there are paint bombers and groups of enemies, offer a great opportunity to attempt the trophy. However, once at least one enemy is caught and killed by the paint bomb's blast, the Postmodern Abstractionism trophy will be unlocked.

Deathloop is available now on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
