Insomniac Games has included an impressive feature in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that allows players to seamlessly switch between the game's dual protagonists, Miles Morales (Spider-Man) and Peter Parker (Spider-Man). As players explore the familiar blocks of New York City and discover new neighborhoods, they can embrace the roles of both superheroes, utilizing their unique abilities and powers.
Upon starting Spider-Man 2, players will initially assume the role of the original Spider-Man for a brief period before the game transitions to Miles. This alternating gameplay continues throughout the game's introduction. Eventually, players will confront a mission where they must assist Ganke in repairing the FNSM application.
The app is used to take on missions and activities, and it's also how players can switch to Peter or Miles.
How to Switch Characters in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Game
Once the FNSM is fixed, Spider-Man 2 players can switch characters by swiping left on the DualSense's touchpad and then holding down the square button.
Please note that this option may not always be accessible. For instance, if Miles is engaged in a phone conversation with his mother, the game will prevent him from switching to Peter. Similarly, if Peter is involved in a personal activity, such as a date with M.J., the game will not allow players to switch characters. Moreover, players have the option to open the FNSM app by pressing the Options button and choosing the 'Open FNSM App' selection.
When accessing the FNSM app, players will come across a comprehensive list of missions and activities. On the right side of each mission name, there is an identifiable icon representing either Peter or Miles. Certain quests solely feature one character while others showcase both Miles and Peter. This design choice effectively informs players about the intended protagonist(s) of each mission. It is worth noting that even if a mission is specifically tailored for Miles, players can still initiate it as Peter initially. However, control will seamlessly transition to Miles as soon as the quest commences.
Due to the SSD of the PS5, the switching feature only takes a few seconds, throwing players into a totally different section of New York City.
