Go to the Lazarus DistrictConfront the Black Shields
Content:
To defeat the Knight of the Lasting Dark in Final Fantasy 16, Clive embarked on a journey from the Hideaway to seek assistance from his Uncle in obtaining a ship. They needed the ship to reach one of the Mothercrystals, which was poorly protected. Unfortunately, during their journey, Clive was appalled by the cruel actions carried out by the evil Black Shields.
Clive will not ignore their actions naturally. In this walkthrough, Final Fantasy 16 players will discover what awaits them as they embark on the main scenario quest "Black Light Burns".
Caution is advised as this walkthrough contains spoilers.
Go to the Lazarus District
As going through the gate to Port Isolde is not an option, players of Final Fantasy 16 are compelled to retrace their steps and head back towards Lazarus. This particular location was briefly mentioned in a conversation between Clive and Jill towards the climax of the previous main scenario quest. However, the gate leading into the Lazarus District is obstructed on the opposite side, preventing players from entering through that route.
Confront the Black Shields
Go left along the wall until you come across an unobstructed gate. Proceed to open it and enter the Lazarus District. Take the time to explore the area, but be prepared as the tranquility is interrupted by a sudden bandit attack following a cutscene. Surprisingly, this chaotic turn of events is revealed to be a mere misunderstanding, and Clive is reunited with an old ally he had believed to be deceased. After a series of additional cutscenes, have a discussion with the quartermaster outside if a resupply is required. Once that is done, consult with Wade again as he outlines a plan to confront the Black Shields.Following this discussion, a compulsory side quest titled "Black and White" will initiate. Instead of tirelessly searching for the tunnel, players will exit the Lazarus District and head towards the Bewit Bridge located to the north. By simply following the same cobblestone road, they can swiftly reach their destination. Prior to nearing the Bewit Bridge, it is advisable to ensure complete restoration of health, if necessary. As soon as Final Fantasy 16 players draw near the group, the commencement of a battle will ensue.
After triumphing over the initial faction of adversaries, a subsequent group shall emerge. This assemblage shall be reinforced by the presence of a formidable Wyvern, thus utmost vigilance needs to be maintained in order to effectively anticipate its onslaughts. While engaged in combat with the Wyvern, yet another squadron of foes shall make their appearance. Even once the Wyvern has been vanquished, the conflict remains unresolved. Following a brief interlude, players shall be compelled to engage in combat with a third formidable dragoon boss.
How to Beat Knight of the Lasting Dark
The Knight of the Lasting Dark, true to the dragoon archetype, frequently utilizes the skillful maneuver of Jump. Watch for the indication of a blue line, revealing the landing spot of the boss, and swiftly relocate elsewhere to avoid sustaining any harm. As the boss's health dwindles below 50%, reinforcements shall make their appearance. The boss will then transition from using Jump to casting Double Jump. Notably, unlike the previous dragoon boss, the Mirage Dive ability is absent from this encounter, alleviating any concerns surrounding it. Evade the boss's assaults proficiently and strategically stagger him to achieve triumph. Subsequent to the boss encounter, a riveting sequence of cutscenes will ensue, followed by the unveiling of the world map. Embark on a journey to the Hideaway to commence the subsequent main scenario quest.
Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PlayStation 5.
