Starfield offers a multitude of activities, but its fascinating features such as advanced ship and outpost construction require players to invest in specific skills. As a result, only the most experienced explorers are able to fully experience these elements of the game.
Progressing in Starfield can be time-consuming, particularly in the beginning stages when XP sources are limited. However, there are a few methods to alleviate the tedium and reduce the overall time required. Here's how.
Fastest Ways to Level Up in Starfield
There's no sugarcoating it: the most effective (though not necessarily the quickest) method to increase your level in Starfield is by completing quests. Quests not only provide valuable loot and Credits, but also grant substantial amounts of XP upon completion. Additionally, quests showcase Bethesda's exceptional storytelling style, making them the most engaging and entertaining way to level up.
Of course, completing quests is a given, but some players may prefer to explore the game's various planets and pursue their own activities. For dedicated explorers like these, the optimal way to level up is to venture into high-level planets. Look for a location that is roughly 20 or even 30 levels above your current level, with a moderate or high population of fauna. Once there, eliminate the local wildlife to progress. While not the most aesthetically pleasing approach, it is hassle-free. However, exercise caution when encountering spacers, pirates, or any hostile entities capable of fighting back.
When high-level herbivores and other non-aggressive animals are slain, they provide a substantial 70 XP reward. Moreover, these creatures pose no resistance, making players only need to ensure they have ample ammunition to efficiently eliminate them. Predators, on the other hand, can usually be evaded by employing boost packs or by ascending a sizable rock, thereby greatly minimizing their potential threat.
Prior to taking either of these actions, it is recommended to obtain a sufficient rest of at least eight in-game hours, or even longer, to acquire the Well Rested buff. This buff boosts the gains of experience points (XP) by 10%. If players have formed a romantic relationship with any of the eligible Constellation members, this bonus increases to 15%. Although it may seem insignificant at first, the additional XP accumulates significantly over time. Therefore, it is advisable to make sleeping a routine before embarking on any adventurous ventures.
It is important to mention that the game difficulty level does not affect XP gains. Players focused on leveling up may want to consider lowering the difficulty level, enabling them to face higher-level opponents with greater ease.
Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
