Lockpicking is a common feature in contemporary RPGs, with each game offering its own unique approach. In Starfield, players will utilize Digipicks, a consumable item similar to traditional lockpicks, to unlock doors. Additionally, they will be required to solve puzzles, with the level of complexity increasing as the locks become more advanced.
In the main storyline of Starfield, players will encounter the opportunity to learn lockpicking skills early on while investigating the pirate base on Kreet. However, some eager players may inadvertently skip the brief lockpicking tutorial, which is presented on a single screen. On the other hand, some players may find the tutorial insufficient and require additional information.
How to Pick Locks in Starfield
Starfield locks consist of circular security layers, and the complexity of the lock determines the number of security layers. These layers contain gaps that players must fill using the keys from their Digipick. Advancing to the next layer is only possible once all the gaps in the outermost layer have been filled, so players must strategically decide the order in which they use their keys. Upgrading the Security skill allows players to identify which keys are suitable for each layer, simplifying the process.
