Final Fantasy 16, the latest addition to Square Enix's beloved franchise, boasts awe-inspiring visuals, a testament to the dedicated team behind its creation. Within the game, players assume the role of Clive Rosfield, the esteemed First Shield of Rosaria. Clive embarks on a perilous journey, encountering numerous challenges that demand his unwavering determination.
Frequently confronted with troublesome predicaments, players must rely on their own skillset to navigate through these obstacles. To aid them in their quest, players can unlock various abilities that will greatly assist their endeavors. However, acquiring these abilities necessitates the accumulation of ability points.
Ability points in Final Fantasy 16 are represented by a blue sphere inside a quadrilateral. These points can be acquired by players after defeating enemies. When facing a group of regular enemies, a small text box will appear on the right-hand side of the screen once the final foe has been defeated. This confirmation message displays the number of ability points, experience, and Gil earned.
Upon emerging victorious against formidable adversaries like the Morbol or the Knight of the Blinding Dawn, players are presented with a dedicated screen showcasing the fruits of their triumph. This spoils screen exhibits an array of rewards including valuable items, equipment, ability points, and experience, providing players with a convenient overview of their acquired spoils and their potential usefulness.
How To Use Ability Points
Players can enhance Clive's combat skills by using their accumulated ability points. To access the Abilities tab, they simply need to press the Pause button and navigate to the R2 button. The Abilities tab is distinguished by a vibrant red-colored wheel, which contains a range of both locked and unlocked skills.
Players should carefully review the description of each ability before making any decisions, which can be easily accessed by pressing the Triangle button. As shown in the image below, each ability offers distinct effects, with some emphasizing damage output and others being more effective for depleting a target's will gauge. Once players have made their selection, they simply need to navigate the cursor to the desired ability and press and hold the X button to successfully unlock it for Clive.
Players have the option to reset their build for Clive if they are not satisfied with it. By holding the touchpad, the build can be reset entirely. Alternatively, if they only want to reset a specific ability, they can do so by dragging the cursor to the desired ability and holding the Square button. For players who are unsure about which abilities to choose, they can press the L3 button to view the recommended abilities for Clive. However, most players will ultimately prefer to select the abilities that align with their personal preferences.
Final Fantasy 16 releases on June 22, 2023, for PlayStation 5.
