Days after introducing the new Temp V field upgrade to Call of Duty: Warzone, Activision has now made adjustments to it in the latest game patch. Field upgrades play a significant role in Warzone gameplay, providing operators with enhanced strength or unique abilities when activated. These upgrades are designed to have considerable impact, but sometimes Activision deems it necessary to rebalance or tweak them to ensure fairness.
During the previous week, a fresh field upgrade was introduced to the game as part of a special collaboration with The Boys. This Call of Duty update not only added Homelander and other characters to the game, but also brought in additional features alongside the new field upgrade. However, it appears that it was this particular upgrade that warranted further examination following the update.
Aligned with The Boys crossover, the latest field upgrade grants players superhuman abilities. Dubbed Temp V, this upgrade randomly bestows one of four powers that seamlessly integrate with the superhero-themed game. However, Activision recently acknowledged that these powers were too overpowering in the battlefield and took measures to balance them by reducing the drop rate of Temp V in a patch released on July 19.
The Call of Duty crossover with The Boys may mark the beginning of a new trend, however, Activision is still striving to find the perfect balance for its new content. While many players found it exciting to swiftly navigate the map, eliminating enemies with electric shocks or laser vision, there were others who felt frustrated by the fact that everyone seemed superhuman. The excessive appearance of Temp V power-ups turned what was once a special treat into the new norm. Recognizing this, the developers swiftly came to the same realization and made adjustments to reduce the frequency of Temp V drops.
It is not uncommon for Warzone, and online games in general, to undergo such adjustments following the release of new content. In May, a Call of Duty update diminished the effectiveness of popular rifles, and minor changes are a regular part of the Warzone experience. Considering that Temp V significantly deviates from the traditional Call of Duty gameplay, it is logical for Activision to closely monitor its reception and promptly make changes in order to maintain balance.

Activision's commitment to addressing player concerns is evident in their quick response to feedback from Call of Duty players. With a focus on the multiplayer's future, the company aims to prove that they take their job seriously. The upcoming nerf, which is a direct result of this player feedback, will determine whether it effectively tackles the concerns raised. Fans of Warzone will undoubtedly be eager to dive back into the game and see the impact of these changes as soon as possible.GAMEPLAY
