Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ was rumored to introduce White Tiger and Matt Murdock will help him in a legal case.
"The Trial of White Tiger" would have marked the initial storyline of the series, exploring the theme of corrupt law enforcement and a murder accusation. The emphasis of the show would be on the legal procedures rather than action-filled battles, providing viewers with a unique perspective on Daredevil's character.
The rumored MCU debut of White Tiger in Daredevil: Born Again requires assistance from Matt Murdock. Following the cancellation of Daredevil on Netflix, Charlie Cox returned as The Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marvel Studios then announced a soft reboot for Daredevil, with an 18-episode series titled Daredevil: Born Again on Disney Plus. Production of the series was paused during the writers' strike, giving the executives the opportunity to review the existing footage. Deciding that a different direction was needed, they replaced the writers and directors and initiated a creative reboot.
Ever since the announcement of the creative reboot of Daredevil: Born Again, rumors have been circulating regarding the original plans for the series. Recently, CanWeGetSomeToast shared on X that the initial arc in Daredevil: Born Again was supposed to be titled "The Trial of White Tiger." It would have featured White Tiger, also known as Hector Ayala, attempting to prevent a mugging that turned out to involve corrupt police officers aiming to eliminate an informant before the trial. Tragically, one of the officers would have been killed, leading to Hector being charged with murder and defended in court by Matt Murdock.
Presumably, Daredevil: Born Again would have drawn inspiration from the comic storyline called "The Trial of the Century" in Daredevil (1998) #38 - #40. In this narrative, White Tiger comes out of retirement to foil a robbery. During the course of his intervention, one of the robbers shoots a police officer who has arrived at the scene and escapes before additional law enforcement arrives, thereby framing Hector as the perpetrator of the murder.
Daredevil: Born Again was filmed with a focus on legal proceedings rather than action-packed fights, explaining why Matt Murdock doesn't become Daredevil until episode 4. In the comics, the storyline predominantly revolves around the trial, and Daredevil is not seen much as he tries to maintain a low profile due to the accusations against him. However, this differs from the tragic reasons in Daredevil: Born Again that prevent Matt from suiting up. Fortunately, for fans eager to see this story and the character, some previously filmed scenes and episodes will still be included, potentially allowing White Tiger to make an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again.
