Marcel Spears welcomed a new addition to his family earlier this year. The upcoming season of The Neighborhood will focus on his partner's birth story.

"This season of the show was inspired by Marcel Spears' real life experience. He actually had a baby at a Beyoncé concert," shared Tichina Arnold, who portrays Tina Butler. She revealed this exclusive information at the CBS Fall Schedule Celebration last month while giving a sneak peek of the show's seventh season.

Arnold shared, "She went into labor at the concert, so we have a whole episode dedicated to that. This season will revolve around welcoming a brand new baby." Spears, 35, and Sarah Francis Jones welcomed daughter Nola in September 2023, just one day after Beyoncé's birthday show on the Renaissance Tour in Los Angeles.

"This year has been full of highs and lows, but one thing remains constant - my precious baby girl now holds the center stage of my world," Spears shared on Instagram to announce the birth of his daughter. "Nola, I promise to be by your side every step of the way, for as long as God permits, which I pray is a lifetime. My love for you started before I even met you, and it grows stronger with each passing day."

Spears told Us that Nola’s birth was “intense” and “kind of a blur” because of everything that happened.

He reminisced about the transition from enjoying Beyoncé Knowles' music to becoming a father. The experience felt like a blur and caught him by surprise, but he is grateful for his new role.

Arnold hinted that the onscreen concert birth will now be at a Toni Braxton show, instead of a Beyoncé concert.

Toni Braxton stepped in to fill in for Beyonce, who was too busy with other commitments. Cedric the Entertainer, now working with Toni on a show in Vegas called Love and Laughter at the Cosmopolitan, was thrilled with the new collaboration. They recently watched the show together and enjoyed it immensely.

On screen, Arnold and Cedric play a married couple on The Neighborhood, and exciting new developments are in store for their characters. Arnold shared her excitement about how real-life experiences often inspire the show's storylines.

“Our audience can relate to the everyday stories of these two families,” she mentioned. “We have some hilarious stuff. Really funny stuff.”

Aside from Arnold, Cedric, and Spears, The Neighborhood features Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, and Sheaun McKinney. The show first aired in October 2018 and has remained a beloved CBS sitcom among fans.
