Lords of the Fallen has announced an exciting update called the Pumpkin Patch. This update brings a limited-time Halloween event and various important improvements to the game. Just released two weeks ago, Lords of the Fallen has received positive feedback and is considered one of the better new non-FromSoftware Soulslikes in recent years, alongside the popular Lies of P.
In 2023, Lords of the Fallen takes players on a challenging journey through a dangerous and dark fantasy land known as Mournstead. Unlike traditional Souls games, upon dying in the game's default world, Axiom, players awaken in the darker parallel world of Umbral. In Umbral, the number of enemies increases and they become increasingly hostile as players continue to stay there. This introduces an intriguing risk vs reward dynamic, as players can earn greater rewards the longer they survive in Umbral.
Lords of the Fallen can definitely be categorized as a spooky game. Hence, it's fitting that developer Hexworks has revealed a time-limited Halloween event scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 2. Throughout this period, players will discover Mournstead adorned with Halloween decorations and have the opportunity to participate in a new quest to acquire a chilling pumpkin mask. It's intriguing to witness a newly released AAA title already organizing a seasonal event mere two weeks after its launch. This particular timeframe aligns more with live service titles, unlike Lords of the Fallen.
Hexworks is actively engaged with its Lords of the Fallen community, demonstrating their commitment shortly after the game's release. They have taken fan feedback into account and made adjustments to the New Game Plus mode by removing certain vestiges, which serve as bonfire checkpoints. In addition, the Halloween event called Pumpkin Patch has been introduced, reducing enemy density in specific areas, improving game performance, and enabling crossplay across all platforms. Notably, Hexworks has organized a photo mode screenshot competition, offering the chance for winners to display their work in Times Square, New York City for two weeks. Despite the game's initial performance challenges, it appears that Hexworks is dedicated to enhancing the overall gameplay experience. As for potential future developments, it remains to be seen if Hexworks has any DLC plans, but given the prompt release of the Halloween event, fans may not have to wait long for an update.
Lords of the Fallen is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
