In Lords Of The Fallen, Gerlinde, a skilled blacksmith, specializes in enhancing weapons. When she acquires a rune tablet, she crafts runes that can be inserted into weapons and shields to grant various enhancements. Once players locate the third rune tablet, they have the option to give it to Gerlinde or Sparky. Sparky, a creature enslaved by Gerlinde, is proficient in crafting runes and proves to be invaluable. However, once Gerlinde obtains the third rune tablet, Sparky becomes redundant, leading to his demise in Lords Of The Fallen.
Should Players Give the Rune Tablet to Gerlinde?
After receiving the rune tablet, Gerlinde expresses profound gratitude towards the protagonist, resulting in reduced prices for the items in her shop. Meanwhile, Sparky becomes greatly disappointed and accuses the player of greed. However, if players leave Skyrest and return later, they will find Gerlinde eagerly awaiting them with a generous reward. Specifically, they will be rewarded with the Crafter's Essence, a rune that eliminates all weight and stat requirements from the equipment it is embedded into.
This choice proves highly beneficial for players, but when considering moral perspectives, it is deemed a terrible decision that may not be well received by many. Once players acquire the power of the Crafter's Essence, Sparky disappears from their journey, suggesting Gerlinde may have taken drastic measures against him.
Should Players Give the Rune Tablet to Sparky?
Giving the rune tablet to Sparky will allow him to escape and leave Skyrest, for which he will be grateful and reward the protagonist with the ability to runesmith. This ability enables players to upgrade weapons and insert runes at all Vestiges, saving them time and avoiding the need to visit Gerlinde. Conversely, if Gerlinde is given the tablet, she will increase the prices of her items. From a moral standpoint, it is better to free Sparky by giving him the tablet. Additionally, the convenience of upgrading equipment at Vestiges is noteworthy. However, if players prioritize the benefits provided by Gerlinde's rune, they should give her the tablet without considering Sparky's fate.
