Lil Nas X participated in the New York City Half Marathon wearing high-top sneakers, which resulted in him needing a wheelchair after the race. The 24-year-old rapper showed up on Sunday, March 17, to run in Coach brand shoes that cost $162.25. He had to wear these shoes because he couldn't get his hands on a pair of proper running sneakers beforehand, as reported by Page Six.

In a video obtained by the outlet, the Grammy winner spoke to the camera before heading over to the competition.

“Hey future me,” he said. “I’m about to run a marathon.”

The clip cut to three hours after the race with Lil Nas X sitting in a wheelchair.

“The race went well,” he said with a laugh. “It’s giving race.”

Lil Nas X, the brand ambassador for Coach since 2022, wore white high-tops with black shorts and a green "NYC Half" T-shirt to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

According to the New York Road Runners race results, the singer of "Industry Baby" finished the 13.1-mile half marathon in 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 53 seconds. The race route took him from Brooklyn to Central Park. Other familiar faces seen running were Ginger Zee, T.J. Holmes, and Amy Robach.

Lil Nas X is known for making attention-grabbing headlines. In January, he surprised many by announcing that he had been accepted into Bible school to study biblical studies.

The singer shared the news on Instagram, acknowledging that some people may not be happy with him. Despite any negativity, he expressed his excitement about going back to school.

The letter was addressed to Montero Hill, his birth name, congratulating him on being accepted to Liberty University for the Fall 2024 semester. He sang, "Father, stretch my hands. The longest road always feels like it's never-ending. Can you help me with my plans? Sometimes it feels like everything is leading to nowhere. I just want to be free from worry and self-pity. I want to let go of all the envy inside me. I don't want these negative emotions weighing me down. I reach out to the angels for help. I'm doing my best to confront and overcome my pain."
