In the upcoming Souls-like game, Lies of P, there exists a cat that cannot be petted. However, this is not due to a lack of the petting feature, but rather because the cat refuses to be petted.
A recent video shared by PlayStation UK on Twitter/X showcases the game's protagonist, P, attempting to pet the cat on a table. As P's hand approaches, the cat responds with a hiss, prompting P to retract his hand in surprise. Once again, the cat hisses, emphasizing its unwillingness to be petted. Within Lies of P, there is a central safe hub where players can interact with characters, upgrade weapons, and recover before embarking into a hostile world. Similar to Dark Souls, not all NPCs encountered in this hub will be friendly.

A unique aspect of Lies of P is its inclusion of social choices, allowing players to lie or tell the truth to influence the storyline. Whether or not players can successfully win over a hostile cat remains to be discovered by playing the game. However, even if the cat becomes more tolerant, it doesn't necessarily mean that players can pet it.
Recent reviews of Lies of P have been mostly positive. In our website's review, Richard Wakeling, the reviewer, acknowledges the clear influence of Bloodborne in terms of its tonal atmosphere and combat design, which occasionally leads to it feeling too derivative. Nevertheless, Neowiz manages to introduce enough originality for Lies of P to establish its own identity, albeit a relatively thin one. Lies of P is set to be released on September 19, 2023, and will be available on Game Pass at the same time.
