Just before his death, Martha Stewart chose Troy from the John Barrett Salon to style her hair for the event that marked the release of her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover. Earlier, Barrett himself had given Stewart a lively haircut that boosted her self-assurance.
Stewart, who is 81 years old, posted a picture on Instagram in April, showcasing her newly styled hair. In the caption of her social media post, she expressed her gratitude to John Barrett, referring to him as a "maestro" and complimenting the refreshing and delightful outcome of her haircut. Stewart concluded her caption by thanking John for his services.

In addition to Stewart, Barrett has worked his magic on Candace Bushnell, Dorinda Medley, Hillary Clinton and Princess Diana.
Barrett discussed his experience collaborating with the late princess during an interview with Page Six in April. Recalling their first encounter, he admitted feeling nervous. Upon entering her suite, he found Diana sitting on the bed with his assistant, engrossed in browsing photographs of the assistant's children. The conversation flowed effortlessly.
Further in the interview, Barrett shared that Diana entrusted him with the freedom to pursue his own creativity, a responsibility he found intimidating. He recognized that any mistake or misstep on his part would be witnessed by the entire world.
Barrett hailed from Limerick, Ireland, yet his formative years took place in London. The ‘80s saw him relocating to Los Angeles, where he formed close bonds with actresses and fashion editors.
During a brief stint back in the U.K., Barrett decided to return to the United States and established his inaugural salon in New York City in 1996.
