Kylie Jenner is pleased with her decision to name her son Aire, as she initially had second thoughts about her initial choice, Wolf. In a conversation with her friend Stassie Karanikolaou on the season 3 finale of The Kardashians, Kylie explained that she wanted a name with significance and that Aire is a Hebrew name meaning "lion of God." She also advised Stassie to choose a name before hormonal changes during pregnancy complicate the decision-making process.
The reality star, who gave birth to her second child with Travis Scott in February 2022, attributed her difficulty in choosing a name to postpartum-related emotions. She expressed that the hormones had overwhelmed her, rendering her too emotional to find a name that adequately reflected the special connection she felt with her child. She further admitted to underestimating the challenges of postpartum, stating that she had never previously considered calling him Wolf. However, after making the name change official, she experienced regret and shed tears in the shower, questioning her decision. She realized that Wolf had not even been on her list of potential names, and she had only been introduced to it 24 hours prior to naming her son.
The beauty mogul became a mother in February 2018 when she gave birth to her daughter, Stormi. Four years later, the former couple welcomed another addition to their family. However, just a month after their son's birth, Kylie revealed that his name had been changed from Wolf. In a recent episode, Kylie explained her decision to publicly announce the name change. "I plan on making a post on his first birthday because I want us to start embracing our lives and enjoying experiences like going to Disneyland without constantly worrying about others," she stated.
Kylie has previously expressed her experience of feeling rushed when it came to choosing her child's name. In a September 2022 episode of the popular Hulu series, she shared that the naming decision didn't come to them as expected when they first saw him. With just 24 hours left to sign the birth certificate and avoid him being registered without a name, there was immense pressure to make a choice. Khloé Kardashian suggested the name Wolf, and Kylie liked the initials WW, so they decided to go with Wolf Webster in that moment. However, immediately after signing the birth certificate, Kylie found herself questioning her decision.
Kylie pondered the challenges that accompanied having another baby. "After pregnancy, I find it mentally difficult to regain my sense of self. We place a lot of expectations on ourselves to bounce back quickly, and I need to be kinder to myself," she stated in the 2022 episode. "With my second child, I anticipate everything and know what to expect since I've been through it before. This time, I feel like I was much more attentive and engaged."
