Kurt Russell recently revealed the key to his successful 40-year relationship with Goldie Hawn. According to Russell, being with Hawn gives you a good chance of making the relationship last. He believes that if you are fortunate enough to be with Hawn, the longevity of the relationship ultimately depends on how long she can tolerate you.

Russell affectionately called Hawn, 78, the "whole package," emphasizing that she lives up to everyone's expectations. He praised her saying, "Women admire Goldie, men adore Goldie," and jokingly added, "If you don't, there's something wrong with you."

The pair first crossed paths in 1966 while filming The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band. However, they were both married to other people at that time. Russell married Season Hubley in 1970 and they had a son named Boston in 1980, but eventually divorced in 1983. Hawn was previously married to Gus Trinkonis from 1960 to 1976 before marrying Bill Hudson, with whom she has children Oliver and Kate Hudson. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1982.

Russell and Hawn first reunited for the movie Swing Shift in 1983, when they were both single. Since then, their relationship has remained strong. They became parents to their son, Wyatt, in 1986. The couple has also continued to collaborate on screen, starring together in movies like Overboard in 1987 and The Christmas Chronicles in 2018, along with its sequel.

Despite being one of Hollywood’s most famous couples, Russell and Hawn have faced questions about why they have chosen not to get married. In an interview with Variety in November 2023, Russell mentioned that the topic of marriage has been brought up more frequently recently. However, both Russell and Hawn feel content with their decision not to wed.

Russell explained that they have both been married before and have already experienced that chapter in their lives. They are happy with the life they have built together and the growth of their family. He expressed confusion about why people are so interested in whether they will tie the knot, especially since it doesn't affect their children.

Hawn had previously expressed similar feelings when she spoke to CNN months before, describing divorce as an unpleasant experience that she hoped to avoid repeating.

During her interview in July 2023, she raised important questions about the nature of divorce. She asked, "How many divorces are actually enjoyable? How many divorces are not expensive? How many divorces lead to increased animosity towards the other person? How many divorces harm children?"

Hawn believes that a lasting relationship involves choosing your partner every day. According to an interview with Porter magazine in 2015, she emphasizes the importance of compatibility, communication, and mutual desire for the relationship to succeed. She highlights that both individuals need to be committed for it to work, as intention is the key. It is also essential not to lose oneself in the relationship, but rather to stand together as two pillars supporting the household, embracing differences and learning to navigate disagreements.

The couple's main focus has always been on maintaining a healthy work/life balance that allows them to prioritize their children and nurture a harmonious blended family.

Hawn explained that Kurt came from three sisters and a strong family unit. She, on the other hand, came from one sister, two parents, and a big family unit. They both value relationships and commonality, which they discussed early on. While they had nannies because they were both working, they made sure to be very present in their children's lives, just like how they were raised.
