Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes Adjusts Release Date to Dodge Furiosa

In a strategic move, Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes changes its release date to avoid clashing with the fierce and pasta-loving Furiosa amidst a chaotic post-apocalyptic race

Wes Ball's highly anticipated film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, will hit theaters ahead of schedule, on May 10, to avoid crowded Memorial Day weekend premieres. The movie explores a new civilization of various primate species, set 300 years into the future. Following the aftermath of the 2017 feature, War for the Planet of the Apes, the plot centers on multiple ape societies thriving in a world where humans have regressed. The story follows a quest for freedom as one ape ruler seeks to enslave others for human technology, while another ape forms an alliance with a young human woman to achieve a shared goal.

The film features cast members such as Owen Teague (The Stand, Bloodline) as Noah, a young chimpanzee, and Freya Allan (The Witcher, The Third Day) as Mae, a feral human. Other ape characters include Kevin Durand (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Proximus Caesar, Travis Jeffery (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and Lydia Peckham (Cowboy Bebop) as Anaya and Soona, Neil Sandilands (Sweet Tooth) as Koro, and Peter Macon (Dexter) as Raka.

Due to the new release date, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will open against Focus Features' Fade to Black. The fourth installment in the rebooted Apes' franchise not only gives the movie a two-week head start but also secures Imax screens for the first two weeks of its release.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled about the upcoming release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The franchise has always held a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to see how Wes Ball brings this new chapter to life. The idea of exploring a new civilization of primates and witnessing their struggle for freedom is incredibly intriguing. The cast looks fantastic, and I'm excited to see how they bring these characters to life.

However, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed about the release date change. I was really looking forward to seeing the movie on Memorial Day weekend, and now I have to wait a few more weeks. But I understand that the studio wants to avoid competing with Furiosa, and I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Overall, I'm very excited about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and can't wait to see it on the big screen.
