Karen Houghton, the sister of Kris Jenner, passed away on March 19 at the age of 65. Her cause of death has been revealed.

According to TMZ, Houghton died from cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac arrhythmia. Her death certificate also mentioned Type 2 diabetes as a secondary underlying cause.

Last month, Jenner, who is 68 years old, shared the news of her younger sister's passing on Instagram.

In a heartfelt caption, the Kardashians star expressed her deep sadness, saying, "It is with the heaviest heart that I share that my sister Karen passed away unexpectedly yesterday. My heart aches for my mom MJ and my niece Natalie, and I pray that God guides us through this difficult time."

Jenner shared, "Karen was truly beautiful both inside and out. She had a heart of gold, always being sweet, kind, sensitive, and funny. She appreciated her life, cherished her loved ones, especially her wonderful daughter. She means the world to me and I hold onto every memory we made together. Karen's passing reminds us of how fragile and short life can be. We should express our love to those who are dear to us. I love you, my dear sister."

Kris Jenner shared a post on her Instagram account. The post included a carousel of old family photos. The photos showed the sisters posing in front of a Christmas tree with their mom, Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon. There was also a photo of Houghton hugging a young Rob Kardashian. Another picture showed Houghton smiling next to a young Kourtney Kardashian.

Houghton’s daughter, Natalie Zettel, expressed her feelings about her mom’s sudden passing on Instagram.

Zettel wrote on March 20, “Dear Mommy, I can’t believe you’re gone. It feels like a dream. I wish I could hug you, kiss you, or hear your voice one more time. You were not just my mother, but also my best friend. I feel lucky to have had a mother like you.”

Zettel also shared a heartfelt tribute to Houghton, posting a series of photos that included one of her holding the baby just after she was born.

In her caption, Zettel expressed, “You were incredibly kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring. Your heart was so big. I don’t know how to move forward without you. Everything happened so fast, and I wasn’t prepared for you to leave.”
