The ABC sitcom aired from 2002 to 2004 and focused on the Hennessy family. The parents, Paul and Cate, raised their three children: Bridget (played by Cuoco), Kerry, and Rory.

Ritter passed away during filming of the second season due to a heart condition called aortic dissection. To honor him, his character was written off the show and James Garner and David Spade joined the cast. Unfortunately, 8 Simple Rules was canceled in 2005 after three seasons.
