Julia Roberts fondly recalled her former boyfriend, the late "Friends" star Matthew Perry, in a recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight." Reflecting on his passing in October at the age of 54, the actress shared her memories of him.
Roberts expressed her sorrow at the sudden passing of someone so young, emphasizing the importance of appreciating what we have and staying positive. The two dated for approximately three months in the 1990s, coinciding with Roberts' guest appearance on "Friends." Perry documented their brief romance in his memoir "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing."
He sent her three dozen red roses with a card that expressed his excitement for her upcoming show and his joy at having a reason to send her flowers. In his book, he described feeling like a giddy teenager while thinking of how she had the ability to make the world, and him in particular, smile.
Roberts expressed her positive thoughts and feelings about her experience on the "Friends" set, where she co-starred as a former classmate of Perry's character, Chandler Bing, in an interview with "ET."
In her new film, "Leave the World Behind," Roberts makes a reference to "Friends."
Her costar in the film Mahershala Ali said, "Its beautiful he could sort of be honored in that way, or the show sort of be honored, coincidentally, at this time," he told "ET."
