As a prominent character introduced in the very first chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series, Megumi Fushiguro's significance cannot be understated. However, his role has been overshadowed by Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses, who forcefully took him as a host.

Although it appears likely that Megumi Fushiguro may perish because of Ryomen Sukuna's transformation, the manga has not yet confirmed this.
As mentioned previously, the body of Megumi has been possessed by Ryomen Sukuna for a considerable period. Throughout this duration, the King of Curses engaged in combat with Satoru Gojo, employing Megumi's techniques and maneuvers.

After his victory, Sukuna found himself faced with a new opponent, Kashimo. Surprisingly, during their battle, Sukuna's transformation to reclaim his original body began. According to spoilers, the manga reveals that Sukuna could regain his original form without relying on his Reversed Cursed Technique. However, he refrained from using this transformation until now.
This suggests that Sukuna's decision to transform and regain his original body may be connected to Satoru Gojo. Based on the information available, it appears that Sukuna was afraid of losing his true form to Gojo, leading him to choose Megumi's body instead.

Considering Sukuna's ongoing metamorphosis, there is a considerable likelihood that Megumi's physical and spiritual essence might be obliterated to facilitate the resurrection of the King of Curses into his original form. As mentioned in the editor's note, the transformation is still in its nascent phase, presenting a potential opportunity for the potential rescue of Megumi Fushiguro.
Who could rescue Megumi?
Following Gojo's demise, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga promptly thrusts readers into Kashimo's intense confrontation with Sukuna. Consequently, it fails to grant fans a glimpse into the emotional turmoil experienced by Gojo's companions and students upon witnessing his untimely passing.

With Kashimo engaged in a fierce battle against Sukuna, the possibility of the God of Thunder facing defeat looms large. Consequently, Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, along with the remaining sorcerers, may align forces to confront Sukuna.
There is a slim chance that Satoru Gojo could be revived and come back to have a rematch with the King of Curses. In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, during his death scene, Nanami briefly mentioned Mei Mei, advising that if someone wanted to stay the same, they should go south, but if they wanted to begin again, they should go north. This could possibly be interpreted as a clue indicating Gojo's potential return.
Nanami, depicted in Jujutsu Kaisen (Image by MAPPA), selected to stay in the south, desiring to preserve the status quo. Conversely, there is a high probability that Gojo will opt for the north. While it remains uncertain how this choice might unfold, there exists a possibility that Gojo could reappear in the future, leading to a potential rematch with Sukuna.
