Jon Stewart's heartfelt tribute to his beloved pit bull Dipper on The Daily Show captured the hearts of viewers this week, bringing both adults and children to tears as Stewart celebrated his furry companion.

The no-kill animal shelter, Animal Haven, where Stewart, his family, and Dipper first became a family, has received an overwhelming amount of support. Executive director Tiffany Lacey revealed to TMZ in an article published on Thursday, February 29, that over $25,000 has been raised since the emotional segment aired.

Stewart, 61, shared during the Monday, February 26, episode of The Daily Show that in a world of good boys, Dipper was the best. Sadly, Dipper passed away the day before, as he was tired and ready to go. Stewart, his family, and Dipper were all together during his final moments.

During the tribute, Stewart tried to hold back tears as he recalled the first time he met Dipper. It was 12 years ago when his kids came up with the idea to raise money for Animal Haven by selling cupcakes outside the shelter. The shelter agreed and brought out Dipper, a puppy who had lost a leg in a car accident. He was named Dipper.

The Stewart family's new pet quickly became a beloved member of The Daily Show's "OG dog crew." He would patiently wait for Stewart in the studio while he finished taping the evening's episode.

Stewart fondly remembered how his furry friend got to meet a variety of people, from actors and authors to presidents and kings. He even jokingly pointed out that the dog managed to do something the Taliban couldn't - scare Malala Yousafzai.

The Daily Show showed a video of Yousafzai coming across Dipper in a hallway. She exclaimed, "Oh, dear, it's a dog!" before turning around and walking away quickly.

Animal Haven mentioned that the money raised was contributed by more than 500 donors. The funds will be used for the overall care of the animals, as well as for operational expenses such as veterinary care, food, staff time, and dog walks.

It's perfect timing! According to TMZ, Animal Haven is currently full with more than 100 rescue animals, including 20 adorable puppies born to three dog moms.

Lacey mentioned that Stewart's tribute has inspired many people to reach out to the shelter about adoption. Some have also been kind enough to buy items from Animal Haven's Amazon wish list, such as dog treats and blankets.

Stewart ended his tribute by expressing his hope for his viewers to find that special dog one day.

If Animal Haven’s report is anything to go by, that viral clip has significantly increased the chances of finding that perfect dog.
