Jon Hamm’s nipple piercings in Fargo aren’t real, but thanks to his “dedicated nippleologist,” they’re pretty convincing.

The 52-year-old actor is set to play the role of Roy Tillman, a police sheriff, preacher, and rancher in the upcoming fifth season of FX's anthology series. In the show's trailer released last month, fans were treated to a glimpse of Hamm's bare torso, complete with (fake) accessorized nipples.

At a recent Fargo screening, Hamm revealed, "I had to have very blue latex applied to my nipples, and then they created a convincingly lifelike pair of nipples, which were then pierced and placed over my own. We then filmed with the prosthetic nipples. The crew doesn't get enough credit."

He co-stars with Juno Temple (Dot), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Lorraine), and Joe Keery (Gator), among others. Temple's character gets into trouble with the authorities and is pulled back into a past she thought she had left behind. In North Dakota, Hamm's character has been on a long search for Dot.

In a recent behind-the-scenes look at Fargo season 5 by FX, released on Monday, November 20, Hamm depicted his character as a blend of Joe Arpaio and the Tiger King.

The TV series Fargo draws inspiration from the 1996 movie of the same name, featuring Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, and Steve Buscemi. Created by Noah Hawley and executive produced by Joel and Ethan Coen, the show premiered on FX in 2014. Hawley, now 56, hinted at a connection to the movie in the fifth season by defining "Minnesota Nice," with the upcoming season set to take place in Minnesota and North Dakota.

"In polite society, people are expected to keep their emotions bottled up, leading them to eventually break under the pressure and become passive-aggressive. These days, however, I see more aggressive behavior than passive aggression. This raises the question of what causes the good, decent people we often hear stories about to turn against their neighbors." Don't miss the premiere of Fargo Season 5 on FX, airing Tuesday, November 21 at 10 p.m. ET.
