John Cena and Alison Brie have proven themselves to be skilled in both comedy and action, as they join forces in the upcoming action-comedy called Freelance, hitting theaters this weekend. A new sneak peek has been released, showcasing the movie's three main characters: Cena as the ex-Special Forces operative Mason Pettits, Brie as the journalist Claire Wellington, and Juan Pablo Raba as the tyrannical President Venegas.
The story revolves around Brie's character, who embarks on a journey to the fictional South American country of Paldonia for what she believes will be a career-defining interview. However, Paldonia is under the control of a brutal dictator, turning the region into an unwelcoming and dangerous place for foreigners. To ensure Brie's safety during her trip, Mason is hired as her bodyguard. In a previously released exclusive clip from our website, we witness the awkward first encounter between Claire and Mason, where she unwittingly belittles him, mistaking him for a mere fan seeking an autograph.
The current clip shows them amidst a chaotic situation after their convoy, accompanying the president, is targeted by military coup plotters. Despite being visibly terrified, Claire convinces Mason that they must proceed with the interview. President Venegas also seeks Mason's assistance in thwarting the ongoing coup, but their efforts are unsuccessful. The scene is filled with several dead bodies, indicating that Freelance will be treating this situation with extreme seriousness.
