Get ready to dust off your Bazinga gear, as Jim Parsons is making a return as Sheldon Cooper.

Both Parsons, who is 50 years old, and Mayim Bialik will be revisiting their iconic Big Bang Theory characters, Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler, in the series finale of Young Sheldon on May 16, airing on CBS.

Their appearances are being kept a secret, but fans of Big Bang Theory will remember that the two characters tied the knot in the show's 11th season in 2018. After getting married, the pair went on to win the Nobel Prize in Physics in the sitcom's series finale in 2019.

Young Sheldon, a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, first aired in 2017. The show follows the story of child prodigy Cooper, portrayed by Iain Armitage, as he navigates through life.

In addition to executive producing the show, Parsons has also been the narrator on Young Sheldon for all seven seasons.

Bialik, who is 48 years old, has narrated two episodes of Young Sheldon. However, their appearance in the finale will be the first time their characters have been seen onscreen since the conclusion of Big Bang.

In April 2018, Parsons refused to renew his contract on the show, effectively bringing the long-running series to an abrupt end.

Parsons won a total of four Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance, and Big Bang was nominated four times for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Since then, Parsons has been featured in films such as The Boys in the Band (2020) and Spoiler Alert (2022). Additionally, he received an Emmy nomination for his role as Henry Wilson in the limited series Hollywood, created by Ryan Murphy.

Following her time on The Big Bang Theory, Bialik, who received four Emmy nominations for her performance as Amy, gained recognition for cohosting Jeopardy! with Ken Jennings after the passing of longtime host Alex Trebek in 2020.

In July 2022, Bialik and Jennings were named as the permanent hosts of the game show. However, Bialik was later fired from the show in December 2023, leaving Jennings as the sole host.

The return of both Parsons and Bialik could be just the beginning for fans of the Big Bang Theory. In April 2023, it was revealed that streamer Max and the show’s creator, Chuck Lorre, were collaborating on a new series set in the same world as the beloved show. No further details have been released since then.

The Big Bang Theory, featuring Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar, aired on CBS from 2007 to 2019. It had 12 seasons and a total of 279 episodes.
