Jennifer Aniston remembered a heartfelt conversation with her Friends co-star Matthew Perry shortly before his sudden death on October 28. "He was in a good place," Aniston, 54, shared with Variety on Monday, December 11. "He had given up smoking, was taking care of his health, and was feeling happy - that's all I can say."

Aniston couldn't hold back her tears as memories of her final moments with Perry resurfaced. He had passed away in October at the age of 54, found unresponsive in a jacuzzi. The cause of his death remains unknown.

"I was texting with him that morning," she recalled, her voice choked with emotion. "He seemed so content. He wasn't suffering. He was at peace."

Actor Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit show Friends, passed away after a battle with cancer. His former costar Jennifer Aniston expressed her devastation at the loss, emphasizing the deep bond they shared as a cast and calling themselves a family. Aniston later took to Instagram to share her personal grief, describing the profound impact of losing Perry and the enduring connection they all shared as a close-knit group.

She said, "For Matty, he was certain that his purpose was to make people laugh. He once admitted that if he didn't hear laughter, he felt like his life was in jeopardy. He made all of us laugh, and he was really good at it. In the past few weeks, I've been reading through our texts, crying and laughing, and then laughing again. These messages are something I'll cherish forever."

Even though Perry openly discussed his battle with addiction over the years, Aniston firmly stated on Monday that he had made strides in overcoming it.

"I want to emphasize how incredibly healthy and committed he was to becoming even healthier. He was truly dedicated and worked tirelessly," she explained to Variety on Monday. "He faced some really tough challenges. I miss him greatly, we all do. He really made us laugh so much."

Aniston also expressed her desire for Perry to be remembered in the way he wished - as someone who lived to assist others.

Perry transformed his Malibu residence into the Perry House, a sober living facility, from 2013 to 2015 after overcoming addiction. Additionally, he served as a spokesperson for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP), advocating for criminal justice reform.

Recently, The Matthew Perry Foundation was established to honor the late actor's commitment to assisting individuals battling addiction. Aniston publicly endorsed the organization on Giving Tuesday in November, urging her followers to "please join me and Matty’s family in supporting his foundation."
