The film depicts the intricate relationship between a struggling writer and his student, as they come to the realization that their connection extends beyond the boundaries of academia. Oretga and Freeman's significant age difference has caught the attention of many, as the release date of January 26, 2024, approaches.
One person on X/Twitter commented, "I feel like she is too young for this role. Should’ve been an older woman that can pass as a college student. Kinda weird." Another person added, "He’s older than her actual dad." A third person mused, "I thought Martin was better than this. Sounds creepy."
Jenna Ortega, 21, is much younger than her co-star Martin Freeman, who is 52.

Despite the difference in age, some fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Miller's Girl.
One fan commented, "Sounds intriguing! Can't wait to see Jenna Ortega in a new role! And always enjoy watching Martin Freeman's work."
Another fan added, "It's a movie. Not every film is meant to make you feel warm and cozy. If movies didn't push us outside our comfort zones, it would be boring."

Editor's P/S
As a fan of both Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman, I am torn about the controversy surrounding their new movie. On the one hand, I understand why some people find the age gap between the two actors to be creepy. Ortega is only 21 years old, while Freeman is 52. This is a significant age difference, and it can be uncomfortable to see a young woman paired with an older man in a romantic or sexual relationship.
On the other hand, I also believe that we should not judge a movie based solely on the age difference between its actors. There are many great movies that have featured age-gap relationships, and there is no reason to believe that Miller's Girl will be any different. In fact, the age difference between Ortega and Freeman could actually be used to create a compelling and interesting story. I am willing to give the movie a chance and see how it is handled before making a final judgment.
