Jenna Bush Hager was surprised by her daughter's new nickname for her, which is connected to Kylie Jenner. She shared this with Hoda Kotb on the April 19 episode of the Today Show With Hoda and Jenna.
She shared that her 11-year-old daughter, Mila, has a cute way of addressing her as "Jenn-er", using part of her first name and adding an "er" at the end.
Mila has recently come up with a new nickname for her mom. "She now calls me Kylie. Because of Kylie Jenner," Bush Hager explained. "She'll be like, 'Kylie!' and I'm like, 'Is that meant for me?'"
Kotb’s children do not have any crazy nicknames for her, but she mentioned that it bothers her when her daughters refer to her as "she" instead of mom.
"I find it annoying when my kids say, 'She… she said,'" Kotb, who has adopted daughters Haley Joy, 7, and Hope, 4, with ex Joel Schiffman, shared. "No, no, no. We say 'mom.'"
Bush Hager jokingly proposed a kid swap after the funny banter. She suggested, "Let's switch kids! Send your children to my house and mine to yours, like that old show [Family Swap], and see what happens." Bush Hager, who has kids Mila, Poppy, 8, and Hal, 4, with husband Henry Hager, came up with the playful idea.

She joked: “Mila would come back all whipped into shape. She wouldn’t call me Jenn-er or worser things.”
Bush Hager's children have been keeping her on her toes lately. Mila isn’t the only one who recently surprised her. Earlier this month, Bush Hager mentioned that she was done with water parks and big birthday parties after a scary incident. During an episode of the Today show in April, Bush Hager shared that while Mila and her friends were having a great time, things took a scary turn when her middle child, Poppy, went missing for a short period.
She remembered feeling panicked and unable to choose which child she would want to lose, but she knew she wouldn't want to lose her daughter.
The fear led Bush Hager to make a decision to stop hosting big parties for her kids' birthdays. She declared, "I have decided that big gatherings are a no-go. From now on, it will just be cousins and a friend, keeping things small. Mama is calling it quits on the big parties."
Bush Hager may have been upset by the incident, but historically, the author has always been a supporter of going the extra mile for her children. She had previously organized a girls' trip that Mila suggested.
"We had actually planned this trip before 2024," Bush Hager mentioned in a February episode of Today show, where she shared that Savannah Guthrie and her daughter, Vale, also joined her and Mila in Florida. The trip was planned because Vale was baptized, and Mila thought it would be a great idea for a girls' trip.
Guthrie used to be Bush Hager's neighbor and they share two children, Vale, 9, and Charley, 7, with Guthrie's husband Michael Feldman. Despite living further apart now, they realized they don't get to see each other as much.
Bush Hager mentioned that making an effort is important to maintain their friendship. The four of them spent time together soaking up the sun and hanging out on the beach. They also enjoyed some rosé, as seen on social media.
