Check out this amazing cosplay of Gwyndala (played by Ella Purnell), one of the coolest aliens from Star Trek: Prodigy. In the show, Gwyn is a Vau N'Akat and the daughter of the villainous Diviner (played by John Noble), who wanted to destroy Starfleet. However, Gwyn chose to side with her friends, a group of young alien teens who took control of the USS Protostar, and she became a believer in the values of Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets, which were taught to them by Hologram Janeway and Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway (played by Kate Mulgrew).
On Twitter, @Talexiart shared an incredible cosplay of Gwyndala. The talented Italian Star Trek: Prodigy fans @cersarmarino, @MissHatredJess, and @blastfx collaborated to bring Gwyndala to life. It's not easy to recreate the Vau N'Akat alien race in real life since Star Trek: Prodigy used impressive CGI to make them stand out from the traditional "bumpy forehead" aliens in live-action Star Trek. However, these Prodigy fans did an excellent job honoring Gwyn and the show. Take a look at their cosplay in the Tweet below:
Star Trek: Prodigy Fans Are Rallying To Save The Show
Star Trek: Prodigy faced cancellation by Paramount+ on June 23, 2023, and subsequently, all 20 episodes of season 1 were removed from the streaming service after three days. However, fans have initiated a campaign with the hashtag #SaveStarTrekProdigy, aiming to secure a new streaming platform for the beloved animated series. A petition on Change.org titled "Save Star Trek: Prodigy" has garnered over 25,000 signatures, with the target set at 50,000. This is the threshold that prompted a response from Paramount+ when a similar campaign was successful in getting the proposed spinoff Star Trek: Legacy, connected to Star Trek: Picard, greenlit.
At present, Star Trek: Prodigy remains in a state of uncertainty, while the show's creative team, led by executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman, continues their efforts to finalize the 20 episodes scheduled for season 2. The hope is that Prodigy will secure a new distribution deal, enabling the streaming of both the existing season 1 episodes and the upcoming 20 episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy season 2. These episodes will further delve into the ongoing adventures of Admiral Janeway, Gwyndala, Dal R'El (Brett Gray), Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui), Zero (Angus Imrie), Jankom Pog (Jason Mantzoukas), and Murf (Dee Bradley Baker). Meanwhile, fans are actively contributing to the mission of saving Star Trek: Prodigy by purchasing Blu-rays, action figures, and engaging in cosplay to recreate their favorite characters like Gwyn.
