Despite harboring longstanding animosity towards Stede, Ed's former first mate reluctantly agrees to assist him, imparting valuable skills such as navigating the ship's ropes and mastering the art of sword fighting. In countless instances, Stede's comical blunders leave Izzy astounded, leading him to exclaim, "I honestly can't comprehend how you're still alive!"

Contrary to popular belief, Ed never utters the words "I apologize" in his lengthy address to the crew, as Lucius keenly observes.
